Lynn in TN Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Well I want to cry, Kelly is growing up on me. She has lost the 4 tiny front teeth in the front. She is chewing so hard these days. It is so hard to stay mad at one so cute though. We are being very consistent and know it will end but it hurts so bad. She really loves our feet these days. How can something so cute hurt so bad? LOL I truly have to laugh about it. She is so funny at times though. for some strange reason if we take a shower we must not be clean enough for her because she feels the need to re-clean us. She sometimes minds us really good. Accidents in the house are almost a thing of the past.(maybe 1 every 2 weeks) I love the greeting I get when I come home from work. I'll have to get that on video sometime. I could go on and on with the cute things but I have to work sometime so here are a few pictures.
hheldorfer Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 What a beauty you have! The puppy days will be over before you know it.
Idaho Cairns Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 It seems like only yesterday we were oohing and aahing over pictures of a litter and waiting patiently for you to return from a visit and then getting to see a video of your Kelly playing with your kids! She's a pretty girl!
Dempsy's Mom Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Thanks for the pictures and the update on Kelly - she is a wonderful pup!! Love the pics. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
janis Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 What a doll! Just beautiful. Yes, it's hard to stay mad when they give you the innocent brown eyes and look so cute.
pindrop Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Oh my goodness - she is growing up and so pretty too. On the one hand you want them to mature yet on the other you want them to stay looking like a puppy as they are just so darn cute. Like Idaho says, it seems like only yesterday we were feeling so bad for you when the first breeder didn't work out and we all waited with you to find another puppy. Where does the time go? But...like children, we watch and help them grow into great and obedient puppers and the process, at times, can be painful with those little needle-sharp teeth. She will grow out of that biting just as she has with other things. You are doing a great job and such a good Mummy. Keep up the good work and keep those pictures and updates coming. Hawkeye Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Oh my she's growing up so quickly. Love the last picture of her peeking out from the deck.
Lynn in TN Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 Has anyone ever had a female dog that was confused about her sex. Kelly has started trying to hump us. Sorry about the blountness but I don't know how else to say it. It has been years since I was around a female puppy. It just shocked me is all and my husband when she did it to him today. After it happened to him I knew I wasn't crazy. LOL She is so funny. She looks so dainty but acts so like a boy. HA!HA!
bradl Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Our old spayed female Barley (RIP) used to regularly hump the puppies just to let them know who was boss. I think it's less about sex per se than a type of doggy body language. Same reason Haggis will occasionally hump Dundee - just a way of reminding him that grandpa is The Man and puppy is a chump. Hawkeye Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Yeah...our females would hump as well. Like Brad said it's more of a power trip than sexual. It is funny thou...
Tuesday Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 She's beautiful!!! (our female lab would hump her pillow every night after dinner all the way across the bedroom... :confused1: I do believe it's a dominance thing.)
Newman Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 she is so beautiful, I love it Click to show the full size image!
pindrop Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 Layla used to do it do although not as frequently lately. I'm glad to hear it's a power thingy and of course when she tries to do it to us, we just move and ignore her. My step-daughter had a female beagle who did it all the time to her stuffed bunny rabbit. Husband and dog missing ...25 cents reward for dog
tomatosandwich Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 They do grow up so fast! Kelly keeps getting more and more beautiful! Thanks for the update! The trainers at our ABTC said that the humping is not sexual at this age, more of a playful dominance. Divot does it to our lab's head at times.
KShep Posted August 25, 2011 Posted August 25, 2011 This too shall pass...the teething and biting I mean. I remember that was a very trying, stressful stage that seemed to last only two weeks! In that length of time she lost all her baby teeth and gained all of her adult teeth. AMAZING! They did have to pull one of them when she was spayed. It came in behind the baby tooth. I forgot that until I opened this thread! Just be consistent with your discipline. She's listening even though you may see it. And yes....I'm convinced that those puppy teeth hurt way worse than the adult teeth. Like very sharp needles!
