Sam I Am Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Some advise needed . I gave up on stripping by hand as neither Jock nor I have the patience for it. I use the Mars comb, thinning shears for tricky areas and straight scissors for trimming ears. I find the Mars comb works to a certain point but still leaves a lot of hair on the boy. Has anyone used the Furminator? What does it take out.. undercoat or the coarse hair? How does the coat look afterwards? I don’t want Jock to look shaved just minus a bit more hair than the Mars comb can take out. percy's_girl Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Percy has a lot of undercoat so I borrowed a friend's furminator to try out before I bought my own. It gets some of both coats but more of the undercoat. I also use the mars and a regular comb to brush her out. I think the furminator helps thin out the undercoat and makes her look slimmer.
cairnsby3 Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 I have never used the Mars because I hand strip, but I do use the furminator. It combs out undercoat. LindaMACH3 Red Lion Springin Miss Macho CDX RAE OF MEMarquee Cairnoch Glintofmacho CD RE MX MXJ OF ME Glenmore Hjour Summer Sun
bradl Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Yep, furminator is for undercoat. You may want to try some thinning shears to finish the outline. CAIRNTALK: Questions? Need help? → Support Forum Please do not use PMs for tech support CRCTC: Columbia River Cairn Terrier Club | 2025 Calendar
