jodi0553 Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Had to share a couple shots from the past week of my royal canine. So lately, Currey has decided that he owns the sofa. When we watch tv in the evening, he thinks he gets at least half of it! He'll kick me if I'm in his way of stretching out the WHOLE WAY. I have a bunch of really funny photos, but am not so keen on posting photos that include me in my pajamas so I'll just show you a couple of them! This evening, both DH and I were on the couch, and he decided he wanted to sit where DH had already parked. Here's the resulting war for the corner of the seat. Note, the human did not move for the dog to get into that position - he just crammed himself in there! Last weekend he decided I was lounging where he wanted to be. So....just lay on top of the human in the way, right?
Idaho Cairns Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Off course--humans make great pillows! Beyond feeding and entertaining, what else are we good for if not for head props???
josie&holly Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Cute pictures! Love the first one where he is pushing himself in! Holly is another cairn that believes she should have the whole of the sofa! If she has been sharing it with me and I get up to go in kitchen - quite often she will shift herself to my spot on just stretch herself right out to cover it! www.cairnterriertalk.co.uk
Dempsy's Mom Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Very cute pics - Currey thinks maybe a bigger couch or maybe two couches! I like that Currey does that - I can just feel him worming his way in the corner. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
Hawkeye Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Thank goodness they are so darn cute, otherwise OFF the couch! The second picture is exactly how Bailey curls up with me.
Lynn in TN Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 I really love both pictures but the first one of Currey cramming in is the cutest. My hubby and I were laying on the couch together watching a movie last night and Princess Kelly started trying to jump up there with us I wanted to see what she would do so I put her up there with us.She squirmed in between us and almost pushed me off the couch. LOL She wanted my place!
Idaho Cairns Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 My dogs would tell all of you complaining owners--"Get a life and get a twenty foot sectional like our human servants did!" There is little guilt when it comes to Cairn Space.
pindrop Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Layla is much the same way - the minute you exit your seat, she jumps right up and defies you to move her upon your return. Idaho, the pups are precious - good thing you have a long couch but they usually want YOUR seat - the one you have warmed up. Husband and dog missing ...25 cents reward for dog
Idaho Cairns Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Oh, I know, ours try to take the human spots--usually my wife's spot on the couch every chance they get. Notice the feigned deep sleep from Bonnie (within two minutes of the time the wife left her spot) but the telltale "corner eye" of Sammi that gives away the truth that they are making an attempt to usurp space again. They won't do that to me because I sit in a rocking recliner and they know I will rock them out if they try--either that or my seat doesn't smell as nice as Fran's, thank goodness I can't ask!
hheldorfer Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 We have a very small house and can't fit a 20-ft. sectional in it. Instead the dogs have to settle for the love seat, otherwise known as the $500 dog bed. One dog takes the seat; the other perches on top of the back. Both of them stretch out to take up as much space as possible. I can probably count on one hand the number of times DH or I has sat on it. Of course the recliners are fair game, too. Come to think of it, there's very little sitting or sleeping space other than the kitchen chairs that hasn't been taken over by Buffy and Ziggy.
Lynn in TN Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Bonnie and Sammi are so beautiful. We can't have a 20-ft sectional either. Even if we could it wouldn't matter Kelly wants MY seat! I don't think it is because it is warm either cause she normally is searching out the coolest spot to sit. I think she just wants it because it is mine. My Kids use to do the same thing. I really think it is the sense of humor thing. The want to take our seats because they can, and to get under our skin. LOL
tomatosandwich Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 All these cute pics are such a good start to my day!
beccadiane374 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Cute pictures! If I'm home during the day & happen to take a nap on the couch, Tanner curls up with me like that, using my legs as a pillow. And as soon as I get up, he uses my pillow as a pillow. But he's so sweet, I don't mind. Becky & Tanner
jodi0553 Posted July 27, 2011 Author Posted July 27, 2011 Idaho, thanks for sharing your great couch hog shots, too! We have family visiting for the week so there have been three people on the couch each evening. Currey is very distraught that he doesn't get as much couch real estate as he is used to! He keeps jumping up and trying to wedge himself in and just can't succeed. Fortunately, he's been an absolute angel with his human cousins (age 5 and 8). He was brought up with them as a puppy - in fact he came home to live with us the day before the youngest niece was born - but hadn't seen them since we moved from west to east coast 4 years ago. They are THRILLED to see him again and just follow him everywhere, manhandling him at every turn and he just grins and bears it!
janis Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I wish Kirby only wanted the couch. It's his new spot, first he had a large pillow on the floor, then he claimed the Ottoman, then the love seat. When we're gone he uses the sofa. Oh, and he uses the bed in the spare bedroom to bury bones under the pillows. Of course there is his extra thick oversized dog bed in our room! Spoiled!
Newman Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 LOL my dog does that same thing when he puts his head right ontop of your knee omg so cute Click to show the full size image!
Jeff N Oscar Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Oscar likes the back of the couch... funny, he can't jump up onto the couch but he can jump from the cushion up to the back. He uses the arm of the couch for a boost up, lol I became a dog person AFTER I got my dog.
percy's_girl Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Percy doesn't discriminate between the couch or the chair She also likes to steal my seat when I get up and sleeping up on the back of the chair.
