Holly does not like it when it is hot here so I think she would literally melt in your conditions!

Having said that when it was hot here a couple of weeks ago I was amazed to see some people still expecting their pooches to walk around as normal! I did not take Holly for walks until late evening.

Buckley does the same thing - half in the bed, half out.

We have been running is the low 100's with heat indices at 110°-115° but I still have to force the 3 Cairns back in the house. Mac the Westie is the only one with any sense. Obie & Pippa just want to snoop, dig & chase each other. Yep, the little nuts are out there running in this heat until we make them quit. Emmy stands there with her toungue, out ball at her feet, just waiting for it to be thrown. She would literally die of heat stroke if someone were to keep throwing it for her. Crazy Cairns. They are probably disgruntled because they are not getting the amount of time outside they are used to.

Love to see where Hogan suffers - what a great spot to suffer!

Dempsy insist on going outside too. I keep thinking he wants to see if the weather has changed, after he checks it out he is more than ready to come in and Digger could care less if she goes out or not. What I love about Dempsy is his spirit - even with all this heat he is so happy.

Yesterday afternoon they started sending the fire trucks out to the feedlots to help cool the cattle. It is quite a sight to see a couple of hoses and big flumes of water dropping down. They are loosing cattle. Also yesterday a man died in our town pool. ? Haven't heard why - he was 20 some.

Keep your family safe everybody.

The heat doesn't seem to stop Percy. I've been letting her out for a quick pee when I get home from work and trying to take her on her walk as late as possible. But if I don't take her at an acceptable time (according to her) I just get stared at and given the evil eye. I couldn't stand the heat tonight and it's not even as hot as it's going to get here. Meanwhile, Percy had to stop and sniff every blade of grass!

The air vents at my parents' house are on the floor, too, and when we go to visit Percy lays on top of them like Hogan to cool off. Smart pups!

What's with a little heat, say Packy & Kirby. Just put on your double layer coat and let's play! Oh, well, yeah...we do ouru playing in the lake. Guess it does help some, huh? We'd stay out there all day but Mom gets sunburned or turns into a prune in the water that long, or something.

DH said Buffy kept going to the door today to be let outside but every time she'd turn around and come back in as if to say "Sorry dad, but it's still too hot out here. Can't you do something about this?" I spent an hour in the garden watering and she only made it about 10 minutes before she started barking at the door. Ziggy has chosen a spot next to the air vent in the bathroom and won't give it up for anybody. Tomorrow is supposed to be 98 degrees - the hottest yet. Yuck!

I wish we could spread this weather around a little bit. Last summer was cold and wet but this summer seems to be even colder and wetter! I just checked the 10 day weather forecast and saw that there is no end in sight for this 70 degree weather. You're all welcome to come take your summer vacation in Oregon but bring your raincoat and long-johns!:)

I'm all for spreading the weather around a little! We are in the upper ninety's here with high humidity. Kirby is undaunted in the morning hours, poops out in the afternoon. Tried to take him to the swim lagoon a week ago, they had a sign posted "No Pets" the rats! DH has said he can't go out in the boat with us (new bass boat) so I bought him a life vest anyway! I believe we will try a short excursion on Saturday. He should be fine as long as we're moving and he has water - and the vest I got has a handle so I should be able to dip him! The dog not DH!

We passed on our evening walk yesterday and not too sure about tonight, the weather is suppose to be worse today. We are climbing into the high 90's and very humid. Bailey & Radar go out and run around a bit then come in with the tongues dragging. They also love to sit by the sliding glass doors and watch, but don't seem to care if they go out. I tried to get them to play in the sprinkler the other day. Bailey RAN from it- no way was he going to get wet and Radar did run through it a couple of times, but didn't get it. Mine are just not into the water I guess.

Both Allie and T Bone are spending their days stretched out on the kitchen tile. DH has taken to feeling the cement and roadways with his palms before he will even walk the dogs. We're worried it is so hot it could hurt their feet.

Sorry but we are at about 5500 feet in Western Wyoming, the temps during the day are a scorching 85 degrees and 50 degrees at night--humidity about 20%. Dogs are laying in the shade of the motorhome all day, watching the other dogs go by, taking a swim in lakes, rivers, and ponds and today met a year old Cairn female that ran them absolutely ragged in the campground dog run--they met their match with that little spitfire and I was amazed how much the behaviors are always the same. Fran and I have been golfing and getting beat up by the new courses we have played! Yikes, you would think I have never picked up a club before!

For those of you sweltering in the Midwest, I send my sympathy and you do need to know that there are places on this earth that are just beautiful in Mid Summer and this is one. It's about 40 miles south of Jackson Hole--just not as crowded.

That's right! Rub it in Idaho! No, just kidding, have a great trip!

Yup, that sounds wonderful Idaho. The weather finally broke here - so I can take a poke. -_- It is still warm, but the humidy left and everybodies spirits rose. Over 1500 cattle died during the week. It was the shits to say the least.

You all have a great time!!

Hey Idaho sorry to hear the golf game is a little off, but on the brighter side your girls seem to be enjoying their vacation with that young whippersnapper.

Dempsy's mom - hoping none of the 1500 cattle were yours.

I was thrilled yesterday, I took the boys outside for a bit and had the sprinkler running and guess who decided it might be fun to play in it --- Radar! He would run through the spray and bite at the water then come back to me as if to say "can I do it again". Oh yeah, I called Bailey to come and play but he was hiding behind the bushes (making his own sprinkler).

Hey Idaho - glad to hear your vacation is going so wonderfully. Not good to hear about your golf game though. Sounds like that little spitfire could easily have been Layla. In fact, we just got back from our early morning walk and she is flagged out on the floor - too pooped to even pant.

Dempsy's Mom - that's awful about the cattle and I too hope none of them were yours.

Hawkeye, sounds like Radar has found a new toy - the sprinkler. We might try that today - thanks for the tip.
