Pay no attention to that dog in the mirror!

We took Allie and T Bone along this past weekend when we traveled to my aunt's 100th birthday party in a town south of here. We booked a suite at a really nice hotel, one that also allows "well-behaved dogs." We hoped ours would live up to their expectations.

It was around 100 degrees F. each day, with very high humidity, so the dogs had to stay in their kennels in the suite. They were really good with one exception: apparently Allie has never seen herself in a mirror at cairn-level before. The elevator had mirrors to the floor. She saw her reflection in the mirror going out for her Saturday night walk, and growled and barked viciously. Those waiting for the elevator gave her a wide berth when the door opened in the lobby. Then, on Sunday, when we were moving out our luggage and the dogs, she did it again. T Bone, who was with us that time, joined her on general principles...The folks in the lobby cleared a path for the dogs as I took them out the door...

The folks who met them when we were walking them on the grounds were generally charmed by them though.

Kelly tries to play with the puppy in the mirror. It is so cute.

How funny! Kirby growled at himself the first time he saw himself in the mirror as well! Not to different than my reaction to my reflection - like owner like dog!

Hmmm, I'll have to introduce a mirror to Gavin -- not sure he's seen himself.

The first time he visited my parents' house, he was great! Personable and friendly. Then when we all got up to say goodbye, Gavin started barking. There was a mirror over the couch, and when everyone stood up, he saw their reflections! Funny guy.

Cute story. I can just see them raisin' cain and then proudly prancing through the lobby like, "there we really told them off" - while being adored.

Very cute, at least Allie thought the cairn in the mirror was. When Radar was young, I had to cover the mirror on our curio cabinet (bottom panel)with a sheet of paper. He would bark at it to the point it wasn't funny any longer. We jsut recently removed it and he is now fine.
