Lynn in TN Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Kelly is really doing well. She sleeps 7 to 8 hours a night without a potty break. I don't know how she does it every night.(I can't even do that) The past 2 days no potty mistakes(yet)and she has whined at the door 3 times (in the last 2 days) to go potty in between the normal times I take her out. I hope she keeps doing that because other wise you can't tell when she has to go pee because she is always sniffing the floor. The only time She's not sniffing the floor is when I'm cooking and then she's sniffing the air.LOL She has to be the smartest puppy I've seen to this day. She knows our names, the word outside, and it is time to get daddy up. Biting is still a problem at times when she gets overly excited. She loves everybody! She wants to greet everybody that passes. She is so fast at catching bugs it's amazing. She caught a fly today. I hope it doesn't make her sick eating bugs.
Lynn in TN Posted June 30, 2011 Author Posted June 30, 2011 She sleeps very funny too! She has been with us 2 and 1/2 weeks in a way I feel like she has always been with us!
Idaho Cairns Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Lynn, Kelly is just beautiful--I love her little face and those stunning well marked eyes--of course the little foot pads, sticking up are just too cute. Glad she is doing well and yes, some Cairn pups are very quick to learn--and Kelly sounds like she is one of them.
josie&holly Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Kelly is a pretty pup and that photo of her sleeping position is so funny and cute! www.cairnterriertalk.co.uk
hheldorfer Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 The sleeping photo is great. Kelly is growing into a very pretty young lady!
pindrop Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 I'm so happy for you that she is turning out to be a great pup. The two pictures are just adorable - especially her sleeping position with those little bear pads. Of course it will take time for the nipping to stop, Layla still nips at times but it will stop once they stop teething for the most part. As they get older they will be able to hold their bladder longer but it great to hear she is doing so well at this young age. Isn't this fun? What a great time to get a pup just as the summer starts. Enjoy - as you waited so long and keep the pictures coming. Husband and dog missing ...25 cents reward for dog
Dempsy's Mom Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 I wish I could squish her. Sounds like you guys are doing great. Little Kelly is so sweet in her pics - isn't it fun to catch a pic of them when their caught in funny circumstances - it feels like you just won a prize. Happy for you! Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
kjwarnold Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Oh, really cute pictures! Jandy and my Cairns, Kirby & Phinney
gt_mustang_gal Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Awww I love the sleeping pic! It sounds like Kelly is doing great. I need to post an update on Cracker. He's not doing quite as well as Kelly, but he's also a week and a half younger so I HOPE he improves. He also eats every bug he can find (and I can't get it out of his mouth before he swallows it), so I hope bugs don't make them sick!
Hawkeye Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 So glad to hear Kelly is doing so well. What a little darling! Love the sleeping picture - nothing like a sleeping puppy!
tomatosandwich Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 So the name Kelly is going to stick? I like it! And like everyone else, I LOVE the sleeping pic! I love the crazy positions pups get in to snooze! Too, too sweet. Thanks for sharing!
janis Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Oh she is so pretty.....! They sleep in the funniest positions. I think she sounds just wonderful. Wish we weren't at nearly opposite ends of the state I would just love to hold her. A suggestion: still expect potty accidents that way you won't be disappointed or discouraged. We would do great for a week then have to poop in the dining room! Well, him not me! And don't feel bad, I've always had to get up in the night more than my dog to! Oh My! TMI!
TazTalk Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Sleeping beauty! Love that pose She is just the cutest. Taz loved bugs too - especially at night in the backyard - the bugs were really active at that time. Just keep a watchful eye as much as possible. That fixation will go away, trust me!
Idaho Cairns Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Yeah, the bug thing is no big deal. Matter of fact, "Get the bug!" is one of the few "jobs" our girls have. If there is a fly loose in the house, they are required to chase it down (usually to one of the sliders) and destroy it. It is great fun for them--chasing from place to place in the room in pursuit as a result of the command. If a moth happens to get in--it is Katy Bar the Door around here.
gt_mustang_gal Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 No kidding about a moth! Cracker goes nuts if one gets in the house and won't stop until he eats it (and then gags a little )
Lynn in TN Posted June 30, 2011 Author Posted June 30, 2011 Thank you everyone. Tomatosandwich It looks like Kelly is her name, she actually comes when called that of course she answers to Biscuit too. When we are in a funny mood we call her Biscuit. Sometimes I'm afraid she's going to think her name is NO! HA!HA!
percy's_girl Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Oh, she's super cute! Percy is a good flycatcher/killer, too. I don't need a flyswatter in the house when I have her!
