Take your dog to work day

I just read that today is "Take Your Dog to Work Day." No one at my workplace brought theirs, unfortunately. But I checked out the official website, which included a place to post photos of dogs at work. Because there was a breed-specific area, I checked for cairn photos. There were none!

Surely some of you have photos of your dog at your workplace???

well now...as being newly retired (since Monday), I am happy to say I wasn't at work today and therefore didn't bring my baby to work. However, she is currently running around the house doing her zoomies and in between is running back to me trying to bite my hands. Sweeping the floor is definitely a challenge as she loves to chase the broom and vacuuming is the same thing. Cleaning house with Layla is not an easy task although she seems to think it's a new fun game.

Nice thought, my company did away with 'bring your children to work day' about five years ago.... So I don't think I could smuggle in Mett or Bratt...LOL

I'm sure Liz H. will have some wonderful photos of her fur kids in jail cells, or in police cruisers...or such..LOl

I could never take Kelly because I work in a high school cafeteria, and we are out for the summer. Even if we weren't I would not get to take her with me, but I bet she would love to go. The smell of all that food cooking. Perfect place for a Cairn! My fellow co workers love dogs and can't wait to see her. If she did get to go they would spoil her rotten.

I do almost all of my work from home. I have a home office upstairs, and had visions of Gus curled up beside me on a special bed. However, he has made it clear that he prefers to hang out downstairs where he can patrol the back garden from the sliding glass door, and lounge by the wood stove in the winter. So, I've moved my work station downstairs too! I like being with him...and the fire...and the back garden too. Who's the boss?

I work at home too, and Pegi does hang around the office for a few hours a day. She usually tries to schedule her barking and crazy fits to coincide with my conference calls - at this point everyone knows when my "assistant" is in the area....

I work on a college campus and they don't allow dogs on campus at ALL. What fuddy duddies. Hubby works out of the house too and our boys love to guard the house and yard for him. They like to go in the familyroom and hang out.

I work in a hospital so the only chance of Buffy or Ziggy accompanying me to work is if they can pass the therapy dog exam. Sure wish they were here, though - they could chase off the people I'd rather not deal with!

My guys go to work with me every day. This is their typical day!

I'd LOVE to take Zekey to work with me, but it's not gonna happen. Somebody snuck their little dog in on a Saturday a while back, and got into MAJOR trouble!

So jealous -- those that work at home, Carinsby3 and crew, and esp. Pindrop for being retired (me-not for another 15 years at least :crybaby:. ) Lucky dogs!

You've already seen all of Dempsy's work place pics. He just a regular little farm dog. Take your dog to work day is a nice idea - I suppose the employers see it as just giving everybody a day off to play with their dogs - nothing wrong with that, it may even turn around in their favor for happier employees = more productivity.

I've done it once. I work in a nursing home. We've got a resident dog. As long as they are in good health and are not agressive, they are welcome at work. It's good for the residents that live there, especially since many of the people we serve are farm dog. I can only usually take hime when I'm in the special care unit due to the fact that Max would probably be in and out of everybody's room at 2 in the morning, lol. Four rooms are easier then 24 rooms. When he gets a bit older and calms down (yeah right!) I might be able to take him longer.

Loki and Zeus used to come in with me maybe once a month, but only when my boss was traveling. Then a year ago April we hired someone who was only supposed to be housed in my office for a few months and I had to stop bringing in the pups. The :censored: new hire hasn't moved out yet, so not dogs at work for me. The UPS man still asks about them - they really liked the him and would flop down for belly rubs as soon as he walked in.

Here is a b&w of Zeus in my office, March, 2010, the good old days.

I work in health care too... no trips to work for Kirby! He can be a little nervous and aggressive with people he doesn't know so it would be a bad idea anyway. My brother took his yorkie to work with him on a Saturday - the little guy (not my brother) had diarrhea, in the boss's office of all places!

I took my first Cairn to work with me years ago. First it was at a bank, where I was the branch manager. I had him with me when we worked late due to a computer conversion. He was just a puppy, so I didn't want to leave him home that long. At the next job, I took him in on Saturdays when there wasn't much going on and we were casual. I would block off the door to my "cube" and he'd play with his toys and just hang out. Everybody loved it!

Here's a couple from years ago--Ginger and Tootsie, the two rescues who could and would ride along very happily in the golf cart and enjoy a round with us. Sammi and Bonnie are too noisy to take, even restrained in the cart they whine and bark when we get out at the green so they don't get to go.

My two old gals spent a lot of time on golf courses--which currently is my "work".

Ginger and Tootsie are beautiful in the photos. Such expressive, alert eyes! I can see why you miss them so much. Too bad Bonnie and Sammi aren't golf-friendly.

Ginger & Tootsie are so cute in the photos. That must have been so much fun bringing them along for the ride. Did they help your handicap?

They were really great dogs for this sort of thing--they were both old and kinda overweight so riding around in a cart was just fine with them--Toots was quite experienced-she had gone on many golf vacations with us and was so well mannered that Pros would let us throw her on the cart most places. She even took the ride down the hill backwards on a course in Oregon when I forgot to set the brake on the cart---she sat right there while I chased it down--quite the the thrill.

That's not to say that Sammi isn't valuable in some aspects of the game--she served as a great pillow for me one hot afternoon when I came home from the course and fell asleep while giving her loves on the living room floor!
