Puppy's vet visit and other stuff

Puppy's vet visit went well. The Vet said she is very healthy . So happy about that. She was the sweetest little girl yesterday and this morning at the vet. The video I'm posting was taken yesterday while she was still a little timid. You'll look at the video and think

she doesn't look all that timid to me but compared to today She was very timid yesterday.

I took her to Moms again today since she had such a good time with Oreo (Moms dog). Well that's when all :censored: broke loose.

They started out playing so nice, and they ended up under the coffee table. Puppy kept bumping her head under the table she was

jumping around playing so hard. I decided to bend down so I could see better because she seemed awful wound up. My mouth dropped open

to see my sweet innocent little ANGEL hanging on to the side of his neck by her little teeth he was try to brush her off with his

paw( I was in shock couldn't speak) He is a small dog but could have squashed her easily. He growled and nipped the air and she let go and pranced about 10 feet away from him looked him in the eye cocked that little head and pranced to his toy picked it up then with her head held high tail up pranced by him so close that her fur brushed his. She was antagonizing him! Mom was laughing she thought it was

funny then she said You are gonna have to watch her like a hawk or she's going to get herself hurt. I ended up having to put her on her side twice because of what she was doing to poor little Oreo. (if I was him I would have bit her)She only weighs 2 and a half pounds, he has to weigh at least 15 pounds. He is huge beside of her.

She has been chewing on everything today. Except for us.LOL.

She has ate a lot today. What would be the normal amount to feed a 9 week old puppy?

Her name is changing we sat down with the kids and they explained why they do not like the name Darby so Eric and I agreed that if

they could discuss it with each other without fighting they could choose the name( Within reason) Meaning they can't choose bad words.

So hopefully I'll have a name for you all by tomorrow.

Wonderful video! She sure looks healthy. Naming is important, take your time. "Hey You!" works for now.

It took two days for us to name ours. We just called her "puppy"

She is a sweetie! Love her little know-it-all attitude toward Oreo. Very cute story. Seems that your a little blind when it comes to the true nature of your little angel girl.

I enjoyed watch your son playing with her, he's very gentle. They are going to be the best of friends. Loved the story...so you have an antagonizer; we do too. Radar is ours, he will take a toy and go up to Bailey's face and keep taunting him with it until finally they are into a tug-of-war game.

Lynn - she is absolutely the cutest little thing and seems to have endless energy romping around the back yard with Jacob. You can tell Jacob is in seventh heaven with this new addition to the house. The kids will wear her out hopefully. Nothing better than to see kids and puppies together - puts a smile on your face. Waiting on the kids decision with a new name.

Lovely video - not sure about your son wearing the pup out - it looks like she is wearing your son out! Great that he enjoys her so much.

Loved the part of the video where your son picks her up and gives her a quick kiss on the head.

Thank you everyone.

Jacob carries her around like a baby on her back. The only way she will let the rest of us put her on her back is if we are giving her a belly rub. He says she is his BFF.

Kelly (if this name lasts) was crazy with the zoomies last night for about 2 hours. We laughed so hard our ribs are sore today. I had never seen a pup act quiet like that before. It's really funny to see a 175# 6 foot tall man run from a 2 1/2 # puppy. He made the mistake of letting her chew on him yesterday morning (I told him he would regret it) He did last night.LOL I was a good girl I didn't tell him I told you so.(Even though I was thinking it  )

We have had more fun with her than we have had in along time. She is a Blessing to our home.

The kids can't leave her alone for a second. When she falls asleep in the floor they both lay down beside her and wait for her to wake

up. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but I know how they feel I want to do the same thing.(If I cold lay in the floor for 2 hours and still be able to get back up I probably would).

She loves to dig, and loves to crawl in small dark places. She also loves to drag stuff. She was chewing on her crate door and discovered if she move it did too. So she has been dragging it short distances today.( It's really a pet carrier) She is also dragging her food and water bowls around.

Great video - it looks like Jacob and her can communicate without any words. BFF

I think at that age we fed 2-3 times per day, about 1/2 cup each time. If it's high quality food, you do not need to feed them as much.

What are the zoomies? I guess this is something I need to learn SOON.

The zoomies have many names. In one puppy book I read, the authors called them FRAPs - Frenetic Random Activity Periods. I've heard terms like Cracker Dog, Sports Cairn, Hot Laps, and similar.

Typical expression of zoomies is the dog suddenly begins to race around the room, usually in a slightly convoluted but well-defined path around the room - under, or over furniture - sort of like an impromptu Grand Prix race through your living room. They tend to follow the exact same path during the episode (although not always). What's hilarious in multidog households is it's very common for one or more of the other dogs to join in, following the same path.

They usually end just as abruptly as they start. I believe it's a way to burn off bottled-up energy, of which puppies have plenty. Dog will tend to do it less frequently as they get older, but may do it at least occasionally their whole life. Haggis (15) still wants to join in, but he can't keep up and was getting lapped so often he was like a speed bump to the younger dogs - now he just sort of stands there making small moves back and forth as if he's sort of "running in place" while watching the other dogs tear around the room. It's terribly cute.

Pegi does those laps all time - always in the living room, always the same path. If we block it she just reverses. When she's done she just crashes down whereever she is. I always call her hyper-dog, but like crack puppy too.

Swimming is to the Labrador as Zoomies are to the Cairns.

I think it's built-in firmware, no app download (nor upgrade) necessary. <_< <_<

Zoomies always come at the end of a Cairn wrestling match in this house, notice the same route, notice the other dog simply stands and watches the craziness, notice the abrupt end--signaled by a full body shake. It IS part and parcel of Bonnie's personality. This is an example of classic zoomies so you should be able to identify them in your dog.

She is adorable! BTW, is your yard fenced? I couldn't tell from the video.

We don't have a fence. We are using a tie out and a leash. I would have had the tie out on her but we were trying to get her out of her

shell and become more comfortable. I would not have taken that chance with just the boys and myself, there were other adults and we didn't take our eyes off her. She has since came out of her shell and is getting faster everyday. Kelly won't be off leash again unless in a fenced yard.

I love the Zoomies. Bonnie and Sammie are beautiful.
