JettheCairn Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 I got my Cairn Terrier at a Puppy Store. My vet says he looks like a funny Cairn Terrier. I was wondering if he was a Cairn Terrier?
janis Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 How old is he? Mine was funny looking for awhile. Now he looks like a Cairn but is bigger than breed standard.
Zekey's Mom Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Awww, he looks like a cutie pie! How old is he? Can you describe more about him? Weight, fur texture, etc. It's looking like his fur is too short and smooth for a Cairn (instead of the wirey Cairn hair), but you never know, he could be a mix. Love his expression. Post more pics!
kintra Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 It's sometimes hard to tell because pet stores are typically interested in the money and don't breed with any concern to the breed standard, so sometimes the dogs might look different. However, I've personally never seen a pure Cairn's tail curl quite like that or a young dog who is completely black with no sign of brindling. Kintra Cairns Home of Multi-Group Winning Ch. hheldorfer Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Could you post a photo? Duh - sorry! I was at work when I read your post and pictures don't come through at work. Cairn or not, your dog is adorable!
pkcrossley Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 can't tell how big he is or how old he is. if he is, say, four months old --cairns go through a strange phase then, they have sort of big ears and long bodies, and don't look like themselves. if he is older than that, i would say he tends to look more like a cairn cross than a cairn. cairns are lovable. if you love him, he's a cairn.
BetsyNoodle Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Cairn or not, he is a DOLL!!!! Would love to hear more about him...
Sam I Am Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 Given the one picture posted I see Scottish Terrier size ears... he is adorable Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened. - Anatole France Adventures with Sam &Rosie
Dempsy's Mom Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 He is very cute. Terrier definitely. maybe a bit of a mix, but he is a love. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori

KShep Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 If I had to guess, I would say he was a mix of sorts. But I'm no expert. He's cute regardless!
janis Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I think he is just precious! Kirby is my first Cairn so I'm no expert for sure! I ran into another one at the dog park and thought he was a Westie - he was so much more compact than my big boy. I think Cairn may just be a state of mind anyway! All their quirks and traits: loyal, stubborn, fearless, funny, masters of many expressions, independent, inquisitive, protective, playful, loving (when it suits them), stubborn (oh yeah and stubborn)but adorable!
sanford Posted June 10, 2011 Posted June 10, 2011 With that adorable expression, I'd say he's cairn enough for me! FEAR THE CAIRN!
