2littleterrors Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Funny story I thought you all might enjoy!! So, about a week or so ago, we got home and discovered that a bowl had been knocked off the kitchen counter. It was one of my favorites, and I just assumed the cats had been getting into stuff. They're like that, ya know? Plus, the dogs have restricted access. We cleaned up the mess and gave the cats a (pointless) scolding. Fast forward three or four days... We got home from errands again. I was the first one in the house and had a couple bags of groceries to carry into the kitchen. As I rounded the corner, I quickly caught a grey streak jumping down off the counter. She ran for the back door with her tail tucked up so far between her legs it was tickling her belly button. Apparently, when my husband got home from his last SAR training conference, he piled his gear in the den. On the "other" side of the kitchen counter. Kenzie has been using them to climb up and down off the counter. Apparently, they made the perfect mountain for her to scale!! The hubby has since removed her mountain. And she's gone back to sleeping in my son's room when we leave. The only thing better than owning a Cairn is owning two!
Lynn in TN Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 LOL thats so funny. Smart girl. I can see it now. I was just saying today that when our pup gets here we have to be more careful about leaving things laying on the table and counters. I've already been teaching them to not lay anything on the floor or low tables. I made my children read this so they will believe me, So THANK YOU!
TazTalk Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Kenzie is quite the conniver and knows how to exploit a situation. Bummer (for her) that the mountain is gone! Great story...tickling belly button.
josie&holly Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 How very clever of Kenzie to work out that she could climb up the "mountain" and get to your counter! www.cairnterriertalk.co.uk
hheldorfer Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 Kenzie is a clever girl. I've found that Cairns will find a way to overcome any obstacle to get what they want . . . which, of course, can result in all sorts of mischief.
Dempsy's Mom Posted May 30, 2011 Posted May 30, 2011 I would of loved to of seen her when she first got the idea. She was really having fun with it - especially the part of blaming the cats. Kenzie says, "That's one for me you little fur balls." Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
Hawkeye Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Kenzie's motto "Where there is a will there is a way". What will she get into next now that the mountain has crumbled? And you know there will be a NEXT Very clever little girl.
janis Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Great story! The way she got off that counter she must have heard you scold the cats! They KNOW when they are being bad!
bradl Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 What's that song playing in the background? "Ain't no mountain highhhhhh enufff" Tip: keep any chairs around your dining table pushed in all the way, too. CAIRNTALK: Questions?
