KShep Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Does anyone use one? I'm looking for a job after a little "back to school" hiatus. This is the only place I'm not embarrassed to ask! Lol. I'm sure they have some interesting, affordable options nowadays. Not that it's necessary. I'm just a little curious about them
Lynn in TN Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I haven't ever used one. I've seen them used on dog training shows and I thought they were a good idea. You can keep an eye on them while you are away.
Idaho Cairns Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I think they would be fun--you could get some insight into what your dogs do while you are away but I suspect I know what mine do from the "sleepy eyes" that greet me at the door. If these cameras weren't too expensive and easy to install, heck, why not?
Hawkeye Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Hmm I could only imagine what mine two would be doing. It would be fun.
remltr Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I do and I feel guilty every time I login and see this view, "just kind of looking to see if I am coming to let her out, or listening for the door to open". Most of the time she is just sleeping. I do baby gate her in the kitchen where she can't get into trouble. I tried to just leave her roam free, but she puts up a fuss when I leave and shreds the sheets on the bed while I am gone. But confined to the kitchen, no fuss and no muss. KShep Posted May 26, 2011 Author Posted May 26, 2011 very cool. what site do you use to stream the video?
remltr Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 This is the camera that I have. The streaming website is provided by Panasonic as part of the purchase of the camera. You just need to set up your camera and a login id and password. The camera can be used ethernet wired or wireless. http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/shop/Computers-Networking/Network-Cameras/Residential-IP-Network-Cameras/model.BL-C131A_11002_7000000000000005702 Sassy Jan 22, 2005 AM. Dempsy's Mom Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 That is really neat. I like the idea. .... what would you do if your dog was up to no good and being destructive?? .... call him up on the phone and tell him to knock it off. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
bradl Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Surely there must be a camera/speaker combination by now that would allow us to remotely issue a KNOCK IT OFF command via jabber/chat protocol CAIRNTALK: Questions? I just pray that if she starts something destructive that it's around 5 pm instead of 8 am. A half hour of destruction (although costly) would be less costly than 9 hours of it. remltr Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Surely there must be a camera/speaker combination by now that would allow us to remotely issue a KNOCK IT OFF command via jabber/chat protocol The camera I use has a microphone that you can listen in with, but that doesn't function because I have a Apple computer. It unfortunately doesn't have a speaker, for two way communications. I am close enough to home that I could probably get a couple of voice activated walkie talkies and just leave it on.
