Terrier Rescued in Joplin

Did you see The Weather Channel video of the dog being rescued last night in Joplin? Looked like it might be a chubby Cairn or a really dirty Westie. It was pulled out of the rubble but looked fine. Thoughts and prayers go out to all those folks hit by the tornadoes last night in Joplin and other areas. We're in the Ozarks but it went north and south of us. So far, everyone we know is safe.

I'm glad to hear you and your pack are OK. I saw the video and wondered the same thing. The dog sure looked Cairn-like to me. What horrible devastation, though. It's been an awful year for tornados, flooding, etc.. :(

Saw this on the news, the video is not long enough for me to figure out if it's a Cairn terrier being pulled from the rubble. It is within the first 2 mins of video. Can anyone here make out what breed it is?

I had just read your post and10 minutes later the Today Show was reporting on the tornado. More horrible weather devastation. I did see the dog and it sure looked like a Cairn. Glad you are all safe.

Given that "shake it off" and "Let me take a sniff" aplomb of the subject dog, I would say it is a Cairn. The dog acted exactly what I would expect my two to act in the same situation.

Glad to hear that you are safe over there - it seems to have been a bad year for tornadoes/storms etc in USA. That does look like a Cairn.

Can't be positive, but it does seem to be a cairn. Glad to hear that you guys are safe and hope that any other forum members stay safe from this springs terrible weather.

I'm no expert but it looks like a Cairn to me. I pray these storms stop. In my area of TN we had another bad one yesterday. The hail and the winds were terrible. Up rooted several big, trees broken trees but nothing like this video. I can't imagine what these people must be feeling, because I'm still shaken up from our storms yesterday and ours was nothing compared to this.Times like this I wish I lived underground instead of in a mobile home.

Underground is begining to sound good in Middle TN also. All my prayers are for those poor people in Joplin. I'm with you, wish all this terrible weather would stop! I think it's a Cairn as well.

We actually are in an underground home, well, part of it is underground. We added an earth-sheltered addition on to our home, so 2/3 of it is now under 10" of steel-reinforced concrete and 3 ft. of soil. We still have windows in front facing the lake and would have to get away from them in the event of a tornado, but we feel much safer! Kirby and Packy don't really seem to care...

Shakes just like my male Toby ! My thoughts and prayers are with Joplin folks. I'd be happy to take in a couple of fosters while families rebuild and stabilize. Mods, any ideas and or links for K-9 help/assistance ?

Poor little guy. Looked like he was in pain, with his tail between his legs, and his right hind leg a little stiff. Hope his owner survived.

that dog is wearing something... pampers or whatever you put on dogs.. that's why he looks odd by the hind end.. That's what it looks like to me after I went back to look at the video.
