This is a picture of 2 sweet little princesses one of them will be mine.I just think they are adorable! I'm not use to seeing Cairn pups grow so your feedback is important to me and you all seen the 12 day old photo. What do you think of them.

I think they are adorable but it is way too early to speculate about the personality characteristics that make the Cairn Terrier so special. If were to choose between two females, I would take the one that was the most assertive, most confident, most curious, most active. If there were no apparent difference, I would choose the one that conformed most closely to the standard--ear placement, tail, size of feet, stop, etc. It doesn't look like color is going to be very different between these two dandies. How fun for you.

Oh Lynn they are absolutely adorable. It's definately hard to choose one over the other but Idaho Cairns has valid points to be considered in making your choice. Right now is still very early to tell how their individual personalities will eventually turn out. By the time they are six weeks and onward should be around the time you should start doing comparisons as their characters will start to emerge. Enjoy the anticipation and quiet times - get all your housework done and strap on your sneakers for all the upcoming walks.

I think they will both be wonderful - and whoever you choose you will be delighted. They are painstakingly adorable!

Awwww! They are such cuties! I am currently reading, How to Raise the Perfect Dog by Ceaser Milan (aka The Dog Whisperer). He suggests picking a puppy whose energy level mirrors your own. Of course, Cairns are know for being extremely active but even within the breed there are different personality types. I am so excited for you!

Such precious babies!!! What a hard decision for you! When the time comes to make a choice, you'll know which one really gets in your head & makes you smile & you'll know that's the one. There's lots of info on the 'net about determining temperament, so you may want to try some of those "tests", if the breeder lets you handle the pups. And if you figure out the kind of personality you'd get along best with, you can ask the breeder which is the best fit. When we went to choose (there were 2 litters), we stayed about an hour, walking around outside, talking to the breeder. After a while, I asked the breeder if I could pick up what turned out to be our Finn & she let me, even though she said she didn't like people to handle them when they were so young (5 weeks). The time we spent allowed us to pay close attention to how they were when around them for a bit. I know with our Finn, he was initially very cautious, not very friendly but after awhile he got into the swing of things & started following us around. When DH stopped walking, he went for his shoelaces. 9 months later, his approach with strangers hasn't changed. And he still tries to untie all shoelaces, even with complete strangers. We were looking for a middle-of-the-road personality, (we chose our last one because she was so outgoing, playful & friendly at our first meeting. As it turned out, she was also very bossy as an adult.) so we looked for what the "experts" recommend. While Finn is very confident, he doesn't try to run the show. I guess everything I read is right. Good Luck with choosing: can't wait to see the pictures!!

They are so adorable - it's hard to think back when mine were that small and we were waiting just like you. It won't be too much longer. They are going to change so much in the next few weeks. You are getting some wonderful suggestions on selecting the right pup for you. I would find it hard to pick which one. Good luck and keep us posted.
