Posted March 21, 201114 yr Just wanted to share with my new friends DH and I went to the lake this weekend to celebrate our first anniversary. Being new parents, we forgot to make arrangements for Ripley, but were delighted to have her come with us at the last minute. It couldn't have gone better. She was so well behaved in the car. We did, however, make the mistake of introducing her to stairs. Every opportunity she could get, she darted around the corner, and was extremely pleased to have us chase her up and down. Good work out for Mom and Dad though! I wish I could have let her off the leash a little bit so she could explore, but I was afraid she would get away from me. We went antiquing (I love finding good junk) and found this likeness of Ripley. It doesn't look much like a Cairn at all, but happened to remind us of her. What the perfect memento from our weekend! March 21, 201114 yr That figurine is close enough to Cairn to be good! How wonderful that you were able to take Ripley--did she manage to swim in the "lake" you went to? Cairns are great swimmers you know.
March 21, 201114 yr What a find! It is very Cairn-like and great that Ripley came along with you to share your weekend. Happy Anniversary www.cairnterriertalk.co.uk
March 21, 201114 yr Stairs are great fun with cairns until they learn that they can play "Fetch" all by themselves. Allie learned to roll the squeaky ball down the stairs, chase it, catch it, and bring it back up for a repeat. NOT much fun for us at 3 a.m. though... Glad your dog got to go on your holiday! The little china dog is somewhat cairn-ish, and a good token of the trip too!
March 21, 201114 yr Author She didn't swim. I'm interested in seeing if she will in the future! I would be surprised though. She hates baths.
March 21, 201114 yr What a wonderful experience for all three of you. Once you own a dog, it's hard to leave it behind to go on a vacation as you worry about them the whole time. Much better that you could take little Ripley and just enjoy yourselves. The figurine is a very keen likeness to a Cairn. Happy Anniversary and many more. Husband and dog missing ...25 cents reward for dog
March 21, 201114 yr What a fun anniversary! Congratulations! And Kathryn--I love the story of Allie learning to play fetch by herself using the stairs. Hilarious!
