So we're heading down across the border and wallE is coming with. Its his second time crossing the border. Last time he barked like mad at the border gueard, pretty funny stuff. Made crossing much easier!

We're heading to Columbus, Ohio :) woot!

Remind Wally that violent rhetoric is out for the time being. Better think about a whimper and a whine and keep the bark to himself! Have a fun trip.

I got out of a speeding ticket once because Cubby went Cujo in the back seat. The officer just said - slow down, ma'am - and beat a hasty retreat back to his cruiser!

UGHHHHHHHHH!!

First off, thanks everybody for the wishes! We made it to Columbus, after the worst 24 hours ever. He was such a trooper though and very well behaved the whole time.

-Traffic jam coming out of Toronto. Delayed us about 45 min.

-Border Patrol decided I was a "possible 71" (immigration - I "lived" in Columbus for about a year and a half. Moved back to TO over a year ago. Now they decide to red flag me. Little too late, guys!!!) They made us wait almost an hour in the waiting room but wallE had to wait in the car. I told them I have a small dog in the car and its FREEZING outside. SO went out and turned the car on a few times, but stil. WTF guys.

-Finally allowed to cross, but now its dark and the snows starting to really come down. We do okay for about 2 hours. Cross Pennsylvania, into Ohio. We then fishtail out, slide across, spin around and bam into a sign on the side of the highway. (ironically enough, I've found the exact sign we it. You can see it HERE

The drivers side hit, shattered the window, killed the door, airbags came out, wallE came into the front and tried to hide under my seat, but there was shattered glass everywhere. The trunk popped and our stuff was somewhat scattered. We had to wait in the cold for a state trooper and a tow truck. Luckily they didn't take long at all and everybody was sooo nice and helpful, and wallE also got his first stay in a hotel! (yay?) Finally 24hrs later, we have made it to Columbus.

Oh my goodness. That sounds like a horrible experience. I am so sorry that happened to you and wallE. I hope you and wallE, have a better, nonexciting time the rest of your trip.

What a nightmare! I trust that nobody had any injuries from the accident, which is very lucky. Poor WallE probably needs a few extra treats to help him get over the trauma. Stay safe!

Oh no..poor you and of course WallE. I feel your pain. Nothing worse than having something like this happen when you are on your own with a little dog (when they are so dependent on us). Thank goodness for kindly State Troopers. Let us know when you are back home safe and sound. Good luck getting the car fixed.

Apparently the car might be a write off. WallE and I just did some shopping therapy to ease our nerves :D :D :D

And what did WallE buy? Perhaps a few new toys or a fashionable new coat?

So sorry about your car but just be glad it was the car that got scrunched and not you. :crybaby: Glad to hear that you're recovering from your bad experience!

Christina, let me share what I have learned from personal experience about situations like this. In a couple of years, you will be laughing about the incident and in ten more you will consider it one of the great adventures of your life with WallE, the Cairn who could handle it all! Of course I am delighted that you are all safe and sound, but with that thought in mind, remember--cars are so easy to replace, colds and sniffles go away, but memories, oh those memories just hang in there and, with embellishment, become legend. Most of us go thru life driving boring routes, back and forth, predictable, safe, routine but you have had a TRIP!

Personally, I think it is the Cairn--they abhor normalcy and I think things of this nature are in their aura--which surrounds, of course, their human companions and/or slaves.

Wow, what a winter this has been!

What a horrible experience...glad you are all ok... but I gotta say WallEsmama, as a fellow Canadian (although living way West of you) what is with you hitting that sign? Toronto weather, snow and black ice roads, and you hit a sign in the States :P

Kidding of course, what a nightmare.
