Does your dog do this too?

It never ceases to amaze me - you are sitting in your favorite chair with your puppy beside you and invariably, you get up to go elsewhere and no sooner have you put one foot in front of the other, someone (and I won't name the culprit so as to protect her rights and identity) sneaks into your seat faster than you can shake a stick. Then - when you try to get them to move so you can reclaim your warm spot - it's like "who are you and what right do you have to take MY seat?" Here is a picture taken last night of this very subject.

Awww, she's SO adorable!!

My guys are not much focused on comfy seats, since they are entirely obsessed with food. If I get up out of my seat, Zekey jumps on the arm of the sofa to see if I left anything edible/lickable on the end table. Then he trots after me to see if I am possibly getting him a treat from the kitchen.

Oh yes looks very familiar. Little buggers! When daddy is in his recliner, Radar love to curl up between his legs - really cute.

Sounds very familiar! Holly may be fast asleep at her end of the sofa but I get up to go upstairs or kitchen - return and there is little miss innocence fast asleep on my part of sofa [she does normally allow me some of it!] - and then you try to shift her back on to her end so she jumps off and looks at me as if to say well, if I can't have the warm end I will have the floor!

Ha! I can't imagine any Cairn owner replying "no" to your question...

Mine likes to steal my seat and stretch out as much as possible so I won't fit!

Yes! Last night the two of them took turns doing it! This happens even when I don't have the heating pad on for my back, anytime Cassie is nearby, but now Leo is doing it. Maybe it's Winter or maybe everyone really likes our new couch, dogs and cat included.

Hence the phrase in our house

"mommy's got a big but, if you don't move she'll sqush you" then I slowly come in with my but....LOL they move.

Notice the laptop, notice the coffee cup, notice the two "innocent" Cairns, one of which is feigning sleep and the other corner eying, looking for Mom to come back and claim her spot on a FIFTEEN FOOT COUCH!!!

The Cairn will always stretch out to fill whatever space is available, be it a 15-foot couch or a small chair. Nothing is sacred!

Pindrop - don't you dare ask that little darling to move! Very precious! Ours was considerate to only claim the otoman with my (used to be)red throw on top. Forbid you try and put a foot on that now!

Cuddles with for sure. She's all about the warm comfy spot. Louie will usually just follow me when I get up since I can never be out of eye sight for him. Now, when we're in the car, Louie will ALWAYS jump in my son's car seat. He loves it!! He gets pretty grumbly when we try to move him. I guess he likes it because he can see out the window while sitting.
