josie&holly
On one of our walks we pass a house that regularly has a GSD in the driveway - it is usually barking/growling away like mad and only restrained by a gate. I always worry when passing that it will leap over gate and attack Holly and I know other dog owners feel the same concern. Well, Friday afternoon I walk Holly past and she stopped when it started to bark and jump up and down and she barked back at it and stamped her back legs!! Then yesterday she did the same and I had to hang on to her as she also wanted to get at the big dog that was daring to bark at her! Normally she has just kept going past and ignored it. I just guess that Holly decided she had enough of being barked at and decided to retaliate............ meanwhile I was trying to get her past before this big dog decided get out! The thing was though that the owner was in their front garden and could not stop laughing at Holly's actions but that seemed to make her madder and her barking rose to a shriek! So now I have decided I will cross the road so we don't go right in front of the house. But I was very surprised at my normally laid back Cairn getting so brave! www.cairnterriertalk.co.uk
lindasue
Be careful! We also have a shepard who has twice broken lose and attacked us. The first time Pegi was a baby; the shepard grabbed her and tried to shake her by the neck. Pegi ended up w/bites down her back. The second time was this spring and I lifted Pegi over my head; the shepard came after me and clawed me on the arms and left black and blues before the owner dragged her off of me. I talked to the owner, who was an idiot and said the shepard just doesn't like little dogs. I called the dog officer and the owner had to put up a fence; but it's only 4'. My last dog was a shepard/golden mix that could have jumped a 4' fence at 13 years old. If we see, or hear, the shepard out we turn around and go the other way. Pegi won't even walk by the house. Not sure if that makes her chicken or just really smart! Linda & Pegi
Malcolm's Dad
Good for Holly. She is speaking up for herself. I wonder if she does that high pitch Cairn scream? That will give the GSD something to consider next time it comes to the gate. Malcolm made a Cane Corso go away at the park using that scream. I felt sorry for the Corso, he is a nice gentle dog and was just minding his own business. Little Malcolm just had to go and give this giant dog a hard time. Poor Pegi. I think she is smart, why let an idiot shepard ruin a good walk.
hheldorfer
Yep, sounds like Holly has had enough of this GSD nonsense! Glad to hear that she stood up for herself!
