Holly's second anniversary

Well, it is now two years since I collected a little dog that looked like a yak from her breeder. She was four and half, had been shown, then had two litter, and so he retired her. She lived in kennels and concrete run.

I looked at her when I got home and thought, oh dear - hope I have done right thing! I had never had a dog before.

I feel I was very privileged to adopt Miss Holly and she has become very much part of my life now - I cannot think how life would be without her!

From a rather shy little dog who was not fully housetrained, did not know what to do with toys, was reluctant to walk on lead, did not want any fuss Holly has now become fully housetrained, loves killing her toys [though is still not bothered with balls], loves fuss and is extremely sociable [loves meeting other dogs and people], and enjoys most of her walks now.

She has some funny ways - don't they all! and you could say she was a very laid back Cairn. But she has taught herself to let me know when the phone rings or someone is at the door which is a bonus for me as I am hard of hearing - my beautiful clever dog seems to know this. She does this by squeaking at me at first and if I ignore her then it changes to a bark!

So happy anniversary Miss Holly and I am so glad I have you!

ps and this Forum has helped me enormously in learning about being owned by a Cairn! Thank you to everyone!

What a wonderful journey you have enjoyed over the past 2 years. Holly sounds like the perfect companion for you (and vice versa!). :)
