Five years ago a little enigma entered my life. At least that

God bless you, your family and Tuk-Tuk.

Dawn, Tuk and you took us all on a sad but meaningful journey this past couple of months and as important as we were for you during this time, you have also led us into a deeper and much richer place with this unfolding story. I believe that every tear said to have been shed was actually a tear shed by some wonderful people who really understand the awful reality you have lived. I saw a wonderful side of our members, I could feel their concern with your dog and with you and I can feel their sorrow for your loss. Like me, I could sense that they were holding their breath, waiting for some good news but fearing the worse. It was an interesting and reinforcing experience with you and Tuk and while "Thanks!" is certainly inappropriate, I want you to know that I appreciate your letting us share this moment with Tuk, you, and your family.

Be at peace now, heal up and stay with us because I think we all want your company--probably now more than ever. Tell us you are ok when you can.

Besides, there is the avatar of that sweet, sweet faced little Tuk--I would really miss that.

Dawn, it has been a privilege to share your story of that cute "enigma" Tuk from across an ocean........... though many miles away I felt part of your family journey.

It is touching that Tuk's story moved so many people, myself included. Much of it was so beautifully written. You clearly have a gift for the written word. I think that The Story Of Tuk-Tuk as a book would reach even more hearts. It may be too much, too soon for you to think about right now, but please continue to write about Tuk-Tuk, if only for yourself. Bless you and your family. I am so glad you are not leaving this forum. Mrs. P.

Dawn,

I am so glad to hear an update from you. I've been wondering how you were doing the past week since losing your beloved little Tuk-tuk.

Tuk's story has moved so many people. I found myself crying as I read updates. I cried when I learned of Tuk's passing. its amazing how such a little dog can bring so many people together. Your courage and bravery has been inspiring to so many of the people on this forum, myself included.

Tuk's story has also made me appreciate my little guys that much more. The past few months I have hugged Benny and Sally more, taken them on more frequent walks, played more games in the back yard, and laughed more with them.

I am glad to hear that you'll still come to this forum. I promise you that Benny and Sally will cause much trouble and there will be plenty of stories for me to share so that others can laugh at the craziness of Cairn Terriers.

Love,

Brianne

The world revolves around Benny and Sally...or so they think!

I agree Dawn, you write beautifully. I agree that no thanks is needed, but that's part of the circle of life. We are here to genuinely share in your sorrow and you in return thank us for sharing. The circle is complete. All of our hearts feel better - the consoled and the consolers. Console - that is all any of us can do. Tuk-tuk's memorial was well attended, he loved having all the attention :) and now may your healing begin. God bless.

Dawn -

Beautifully said. I hope you do stay an active member of the forum.

Dawn, You and Tuk have brought all of us together. We have shared in your pleasure and sorrows and were with you in spirit through the hard times. You've captivated our hearts with your updates, and yes we cried with you at times. I too have given my pups some extra hugs, treats and attention. You have reminded us how special our cairn are to us.

I agree with the others...you write beautifully! I wish you and your family all the best and look forward to seeing you on the forum in the future.

Lynda

Dawn, your words are so wonderfully written and I can not add anymore than all the "from the heart" posts above.

How can we not love these precious dog so much, and to ensure that they only know our goodness all the days of their lives.

cairn terriers leave pawprints on our lives

Dawn,

Please stay with us and post when you can. You have a lot to offer, both from your experience with Tuk's illness and from your joyful times with Tuk. And we'd miss you terribly if you went away. I think I speak for many forum members when I say that you're a friend whom we could never forget.

Helene

P.S. Buffy sends licks and nuzzles.

All I can add is that I am looking forward to seeing a posting sometime in the future telling us about the new cairn in your life! It will take awhile but you and the kids will get there.

Linda & Pegi

I do not believe there is another forum quite like this one, with people quite like all of you.

He helped me have a family of Cairns and their people.

I could not leave now that you are all like family to me.

Dawn, those lines from your post illustrate the obvious, that Cairn Talk folks are indeed a family. Like most families, we have members that we have never met face to face, but they are still important family members. We are so very proud to have you & Tuk-Tuk hanging on our family tree with us. We grieve for Tuk, and we are here for you, as family should be.

Agreed!

The forum will be missing you if you don't check in and post.

Dear Dawn,

The terrible blow that you were dealt, deeply affected so many of us. I, for one will always associate Tuk-tuk with this site. His was truly a precious soul and his memory will remain with me.

FEAR THE CAIRN!

I'm glad you will still be part of the forum.

Dawn,

As a first time pet owner who has never had to face the serious illness of a pet I followed your story with a mixture of hope and fear. While I anticipate many more years with my dogs before facing the decisions you recently had to make, the honesty of your posts have left me feeling better prepared to deal with the loss of my beloved dogs when their time does come.

Thank-you for sharing Tuk's story.

Who rescued whom?

I couldn't agree more with everything written here. And your words were so heartfelt.

Last week when Chuck came home from a trip I was starting to tell him about Tuk and I couldn't stop crying. Your words and posts made us all feel as though we knew him.

Chuck & I were lucky to have met sweet Tuk one day at the dog park - he had a beautiful Cairn spirit.

I so hope you stay in touch.

Dawn, I am glad you have decided to continue visiting and posting on this forum. You would truly be missed if you left us. Having lost my little Cairn mix, Betsy Noodle, in 2008, I know all too well the sorrow you and your family are feeling. Your wonderful Tuk-tuk--in his illness and in happier times--made such an impression on me and my husband. His light shone so brightly in this world, and continues on even now.
