Malcolm's Dad
Something happened today that was funny. I had a wooden spoon on the counter. It's a cheap very lightweight wooden spoon. I accidentally brushed it with my hand and it fell off the counter and hit Malcolm on his back. Oh that poor dog! His ears went back and he sat in a huddled position looking at the floor. He wasn't hurt, that spoon is like balsa wood and it just bounced off of him. But to look at him you'd think he'd been beaten with a large stick. I told him I'm so sorry and pet him, but that wasn't enough, he just sat there. So I had to get down on the floor and hug him and kiss him and apologize profusely. Still no good. Finally I got a fresh bone and gave it to him. That did the trick. He was happy and back to his old self, merrily chewing on his bone. Then I thought, what a drama queen he is. This dog is a good actor, or a con artist. Cairns are tough little dogs and a little tap on the back isn't going to hurt them. But he milked it for all it was worth, lots of sympathy and a bone. Oliver's Mom
They are little con artist's aren't they? Too cute though. He probably knew "Ok, if I play like this is really affecting me I WILL get something yummy! Be a good actor. I can do this!" We have a drama king here as well. Heaven forbid the leash get slightly wrapped around his leg and tighten the slightest bit he yelps like the thing is cutting of circulation and he's about to die! They are funny. Autumn & Lola
That was really funny. It reminded me of the movie "Rain Man", when Raymond would write down in his notebook all his "serious injuries" (even if he just got a tap on the shoulder). Zekey's Mom
Malcom was probably sulking because a large piece of food didn't hit him on his back, just a boring old spoon.
oscar's mom
Oscar can rumble with the best of them in the dog park. But he's so sensitive at home. I bet your little guy is the same way.
cairnrescueleague
My foster Misty got into a scuffle once and tried to make me think one of her legs was hurt so badly she had to limp. Problem was, she kept forgetting which leg it was!
DawnandTuk-tuk
Oh, its a good thing Tuk-tuk hasn't figured this out! He routinely sits right by my bathroom counter and I've got lots of brushes/combs and the hair dryer with accessories there and they are always falling...so falling on him! I would think he would know not to sit there by now but he really loves to sit right under foot so moving would mean he's not in my way! lol Maybe he prefers being in my way to con-ing me for a bone. He does it in the kitchen too, lays right where my feet should be to cook. So I have to stand at an awkward angle to cook over the stove. I'm used to it by now, but when my mom comes over to cook or we visit my sister (I love it that he does it at other ppl's houses too!) they both trip over him!
