remltr Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 This is a picture of Sassy with a single egg baby squeaker toy in her mouth. She has now started carrying one when we go for walks. She will set it down to sniff pmail and pick it up and carry on with the walk. I figured by the size of her mouth she could only hold the one. But to my surprise the other day when going out for a walk I took it from her because it was raining out and out popped another one. There is no way that I could stuff two of them in my mouth. It just cracks me up that she can breathe while these are stuffed in her mouth and talk a walk like it's no big deal. These furry little characters are just amazing and extremely funny. Zekey's Mom Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 ...sniff pmail That cracks me up! Don't know how big the squeaker is that Sassy has. I once doubted Zekey could pick up a regular sized tennis ball, but then he did manage it.
kittdog Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 cute. yeah, cairns have big mouths and strong jaws that can hold a lot.

Actually we call it either today's new or neighborhood news. Max and Nelly
Autumn & Lola Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Okay, I give up. I don't get it. What is "pmail"?
tlwtheq Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Okay, I give up. I don't get it. What is "pmail"? Okay...we all use email, right? Our pups live by the scents they smell on every fire hydrant, tree, post, etc. What they are mostly sniffing is the "stuff" other dogs have left when they lifted their legs. Hence, pmail. bradl Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 I like the p-mail concept very much. I also like the concept that the local fire hydrants/bushes are like newspapers to our dogs, with all the news that's fit to sniff. Our Haggis must be an activist, as he frequently writes letters to the editor. CAIRNTALK: Questions? josie&holly Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Holly is a very avid reader of pmail and would if I let her stand for hours sniffing at some lamp-posts/walls. You have no doubt heard of tree huggers - well Holly likes to hug walls! she will walk right against them sniffing! she thinks that is the reason we go for walks so that she can read the pmail! www.cairnterriertalk.co.uk

remltr Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 Should have mentioned that an egg baby is about the size of a tennis ball, but plush and compressible. Now let's get back to the question at hand - can your little furball get a basketball in there? Sassy Jan 22, 2005 AM. CH. THARRBARR LITE MY FIRE ZOMERHOF
Hawkeye Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 My previous cairn could carry a soccer ball in her mouth. The kids would go out to kick around the soccer ball and, of course, Mandy (RIP)would always go out and play with them and steal the ball. Somehow she would bite it on the side of her mouth the run with it. Sorry to say the soccer ball would usually pop. It was the funniest thing to see. Love the pmail...lol
beccadiane374 Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Tanner has some small soft balls that sound similar to the egg babies. He carries around 2 of them quite a bit. He hasn't yet gotten 3 in his mouth, but he'll have the 2 in his mouth & then chase around the 3rd. It's really very funny to watch him. He also will play w/a soccer ball. As for the p-mail...he has certain spots that he thinks he must check on every walk. I always tell him at the places that he usually marks to "leave a message." Becky & Tanner
carolinaila09 Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 i really think paisley could fit a basketball in her mouth!! haha she only likes big tennis balls..she wont really play with the little ones made for little dogs like ive said before, shes got that extra long tongue..guess thats why her mouth is so big! **Ila and Paisley**

hheldorfer Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 I never realized how much Buffy could fit in her mouth until we got a second dog. DH brought home 2 matching stuffed toys for them yesterday. Buffy immediately stole her brother's toy and went prancing around the house with both in her mouth. And, as a footnote, she managed to "kill" both of them within 30 minutes.
