Does your Cairn notice and react when something is out of place or different than usual?

I've mentioned in other posts that I live on a busy one way street. Renny spends a lot of time on the back of the couch watching the world through the picture window. About 2 or 3 times a week somebody will come down the street going the wrong way. He goes nuts barking, growling, snapping and snarling at the wayward vehicle. In Renny's world, cars go right to left, not left to right.

Yesterday I was getting ready to do some yardwork. I went outside and got some tools out and then came back into the house to get Renny and take him out with me. He kept backing away from me when I went to pick him up. Then it dawned on me. I was wearing my goofy looking but effective sun hat, and he didn't like it.

We use the same walking route for most of our walks. I swear he notices if a For Sale sign pops up in somebody's yard or if somebody has a new car. When he sees something different, he will stop and look at it foe a time before he's ready to resume his walk.

Anybody have similar experiences?

Holly likes her routine - if we walk and I try and cross the road at a different place to normal for example - she will sit down and refuse to move!

Also, when I had my hair cut and done at hairdressers the other week she kept looking at me when I returned home and studying the change.

If I move the pots of flowers around in garden and she then goes out she walks round and checks where they are - looks at where they were too!

Very interested in other people's gardens too - if we pass a house where people are working on their front garden she pulls me up path to inspect what they are doing. I have the excuse that I have a nosy dog, but really she is checking what changes they are making too. I have met quite a few people round here that way though! [she then gets fussed too]

Tanner is very, very aware of any changes or anything different. Last night, we had brought in a couple of bags of clothing donations for church & they were sitting in the living room & he immediately came & barked at them b/c they did not belong there.

A week or so back, I was walking him at a different time of day, I guess & we had a really, really full moon that was really low in the sky--don't know exactly how to describe it--anyhow, since the moon is usually higher in the sky, he doesn't ever really see it, but that night, he was going crazy barking at the moon.

When we walk through the subdivision, he always notices when there's a new toy or something in people's yards & wants nothing more than to go investigate.

Kinda crazy how aware of everything he is...my little detective! :)

Louie notices if ANYTHING is different. I am not too familiar with other dog breeds, and wonder if all dogs are this way, or if he being a terrier and a super genius  makes him so curious.

He has to investigate any change. He barks at it, circles it, is very cautious and then accepts.

Mine notices any changes as well. Anything that was not there before even a little thing she will back away and bark at it as if to let me know she has discovered something. Does not miss anything.

Kris always inspects anything different in the house. He HATES when furniture is moved. We just moved and everytime I packed a box he would circle it and watch and sniff everything that went into it!

Brody is very observant and NOSEY!!

A car was pulled over in front of our house last night. I was trying to bring him in and he was just staring!!

Flynn is the same...ANYTHING different or moved from its usual place will set him off growling at it. They like everything to be 'just so' don't they lol!

NOTHING can be moved without Misty noticing- she keeps us in line! Only barks at it if she did not see us bring it in or move it. Shes the one that stretches up a wall and looks at shelf displays too! Toby...another story if its not on his eye level he rarely pays attention(not yet anyway)

I've had very similar experiences. Murphy reacts to new/odd clothing and things in the street near our home that don't belong there like large black garbage bags next to the usual garbage can. I recently bought carpet runners for the long hallway in our home so that she will have traction when she runs and WOW, did that take a while. I had to coax her little by little onto the runner, she didn't like it at first. Now, she loves really getting a good run on them while chasing the ball.
