Doggie hugs

Things have been so crazy lately! I've got my night class (calculus--ugh! who in their right mind is willingly a math major!?!) which is tough cause they cram a 16 wk class into 7. I'm moving this week, and job hunting. And just for kicks my mom had to have a surgery (not serious, she'll be home after 48 hrs) today, but it's in the middle of my moving week. So I'm a little stressed, but it's been ok cause I'm starting new phases and such for life that I'm excited about.

Tuk-tuk is trying to figure why we are taking the house apart, but he's being great about it! He's missing me alot though, cause I'm in and out all day long moving stuff and then most of the night for my class. Now he doesn't lack for attention because my mom watches my kiddos for two nights and she spoils him like crazy! And then the kids' dad comes the other two nights, and since he misses Tuk he spoils him too.

Today though was a long, long no fun day. I took my mom to the hospital for her surgery this morning (left by 8:30). This was a stressful event as this was her third attempt at this, the first one she almost died. I took the nasty calculus with me cause I had a test tonight. I studied and caught up on homework all day as we waited for updates and such. The hospital was on the other side of Phoenix from where I take my night class and due to her special case she didn't get out of surgery until late in the afternoon. By the time she was settled and I could leave I had to go straight to class, no dinner, no going home to see kids/Tuk. When I got home I had to turn right around and take food out of the fridge in this house and move it to the new house, long story there. I said bye to Tuk as I was leaving cause he was watching me, looking so cute and sad. When I got back he was laying in the same spot as he had been when I left. Aw! He ran right up to me and I got down on one knee and he put his front little paws there on the other knee and leaned in close. As I was talking to him about how sweet he was I gave him a kiss and I swear he was hugging me right there leaning on me. I don't know if I've mentioned, but I just love this sweet little dog! I'm a complete mess right now, with the crying and being all sappy (not something I do alot of unless I'm talking about Tuk). I don't know how he knew I needed a doggie hug, but it made the whole day disappear. Sorry for the long post, but I had to share about my super best buddy.

Awwww, what a sweetie :D Dogs have seen me through some of the worst times in my life. They are better medicine than anything you can find in a bottle of pills.

Hope your mom's op went well and of course that your move and job-hunting are successful!

Aah, I have decided that our dogs know just what is needed by their slaves to keep them encouraged!

That is so sweet. They really do know our moods.

I have reverse seasonal affective disorder, which means summer is hard for me. Louie seems to know and has been giving me extra love.

Fudgie gives my mom a long hug every time we go to her house. She would like to attack my mom's little old dog every time too! But the hug is so generous and genuine! Up on her hind legs hugging for what seems forever. Don't even get me started on how she acts around my brother. It is downright nauseating!! Good luck with all that is going on in your life right now. Doggie hugs are the best!

Yup... they are there when we need them the most. Found this in a poem.

Hey Dawn...

Big hugs from Taz and Gypsy (and me too)! You're being thrown an awful lot of challenges at the same time. They say it builds character, eh!? How sweet that Tuk recognized you needed him ... they are very intuitive! Good luck w/ everything and maybe we can get together when life settles down for you!

Aww, what a heart warming story. I swear these Cairns know when we need that little extra hug/kiss. And, not to mention they are the first to greet us at the door waiting for us. I hope the move and your tests work out well for you, also thinking of your mom. Hope she is doing well and the surgery worked and she is on the mend. Thanks for the lovely Tuk Tuk story. What a sweet boy.

Tuky is just the best! I was so afraid to get a terrier because of their reputations but boy am I glad I did! It's his personality that really makes him so special. He knows how to make me laugh by getting into mischief without getting into trouble, I think that's so cool! And then for such a little guy to be able to give a hug, ah just so sweet. And then to watch him with my mom...oh the antics he will do just to get a treat. He bows, does a dance with a grrly sound (maybe it's supposed to be a song), nods yes, turns in circles and barks like crazy. Then she relents and gives him food and he sooo tenderly takes it from her which she praises with more food.

She's doing great, by the way. She did so well that they sent her home this morning instead of keeping her a second night. She had surgery to repair disks in her spine right behind her throat. Its sounds serious, but the surgery turned out to be easy part. Her first attempt at it, when they were getting ready and administered the muscle relaxer to put in the breathing tube she had an allergic reaction to the muscle relaxer that caused her blood pressure to drop to a dangerously low level. They injected her with 2 epi pens (sp?) but since she wasn't circulating blood they couldn't work. Her surgeon had to do chest compressions to get her heart to pump to medicine through her body to counteract the muscle relaxer. Needless to say it worked...but every dr she's seen since then can't believe she made it. The second attempt at the surgery her blood showed low platelet levels so they didn't go through with it. It turned out to be a false read, so we finally got to yesterday. But with all the history you can understand why it was such a stressful event.
