Favorite toys

What are your puppy or adult dog's favorite toys? My pup, Maggie, is 12 weeks old and so far her favorites are the Loofah Dog, the Amazaball and some other ball that you put treats in, roll it around to make it fall out, and other toys that squeek. She is not into Kongs, Nylabones and sometimes likes pig ears and bully sticks. She also likes to chase balls and absolutely loves to play with and chew on ice cubes.

What do your dogs like to chew on and play with?

Zach likes filled kongs, rubber balls (with the treats inside), and the little squirrels inside of his puzzle set. He'll play with anything that has a squeaker for a little bit.

ZaZa (min pin) only likes toys that have bells in them.

Sparky loves rope toys, and he LOVES his Jolly Ball. It's a hard plastic ball with several large holes in it, and inside there's a soft ball. He plays with that thing all the time.

Holly has several toys but her favourite is a latex moose that sqeaks! and it has lasted 6 mths so far!

she slo loves the plush stretchy lizard that is in the washing bowel!

Kirby's favorite toy is Packy. Packy's favorite toy is Kirby. They just love to chase, jump and wrestle with each other. Aside from that, their absolute favorite are the squeaky rubber chickens from Petco. They come in different costumes (we've got Swimmer and Elvis right now) and their squeak really does sound like a chicken sometimes. They love to rip the heads off them. We have one right now with a scarf on -- it's tied around his neck to hold his head on for the last few sessions. They have several different kinds of chickens but only this particular one will do -- they get mad if someone gives them the wrong one!

Balls! Balls! Balls! He loves balls, all kinds, all sizes! He prefers smaller ones that he can carry easily in his mouth, but he's not particularly picky. He's interested in kongs only when they're filled. Nylabones are an on-again, off-again interest. And he'll play tug of war fairly often. He prefers plush, squeaker toys, so his favorite, favorite toy is a plush BALL with a squeaker. :)

Bailey's favorite squeak toy is a latex green dinosaur (the eyes get him). He really loves anything that squeaks. He also loves the stuffed squirel. I was looking at pet toys on the web the other night and you could test the squeak it makes...well I had Bailey going crazy he kept trying to get to the laptop and his head was tilting side to side. It was very cute. He also chews a Nylabone and loves treats from his kong.

Renny's favorite toy is a white plastic squeaky ball that looks like a slightly undersized baseball. I bought the first one on impulse at the local Ace Hardware store shortly after he took over the house nearly 4 years ago. They are cheap at about two dollars. I make it a point to pick up 2 or 3 whenever I get down to one "spare" on hand. These usually don't last very long since the squeakers tend to break easily.

He sometimes takes one one that barely squeaks manages to "fix" it somehow. He does this out of sight so I can't see what he does, but he can usually get one working two or three times before I have to throw it out and give him a fresh one.

He discovered rawhide bones on a visit to my daughter and still likes them a lot. I have started restricting the rawhide bones though since he can get quite "snappy" after chewing on them for awhile.

I have tried various pull toys, a Kong and other types of squeaky toys but the cheapo from Ace is still his absolute favorite.

I've been meaning ( but keep forgetting) to pick up a small radio control car that can turn the tables and chase him. It will be interesting to see how one of the little 10-15 dollar cheapies intended for toddlers can stand up to a Cairn. Someone on this board mentioned them awhile back and said they were surprisingly durable.

Awww...so sweet!

Currey's favorite toy is his "puppy" - a good old russ brand stuffed bulldog with beanbags in his feet. Puppy was once a "Yale bulldog" that was a gift to me from a friend who went to Yale for college. I gave puppy to Currey the night we brought him home over three years ago. He used to carry puppy around by his ear, but then his ear came off. I used to sew him back up but gave up a long time ago! Puppy barely has a head anymore and is the saddest looking toy, but he still gets played with every single night! Currey loves to shake him and fling him in the air - he can get 4 or 5 feet high on a good toss! I've tried to find replacements for when puppy "dies" but no toys have measured up in Currey's mind! A few pics of Currey and puppy below..

Puppy (now pretty much headless) is always nearby as Currey destuffs yet another inferior replacement toy!

What's the name of that car?

Mine love kongs, nylabone wishbones, galelio nylabones, and then stuffed animals. We take off any sort of plastic eyes/noses/etc. and then they like to destuff them and play tug or war together with them. The boys will play fetch with the stuffed toys. We pick them up at garage sales. Most dog toys get destroyed too fast to warrant buying them.

Note to Cindy.

I hadn't bought a small R/C car to try on Renny when I posted yesterday, but I went out to Walmart to see what I could find. We don't have a real toy store like a "Toy's R Us" in my area, but they would probably have a bigger selection. I think the key is NO easily removed small parts and a rounded shape that's hard to bite.

I ended up with a little car that resembles a VW New Beetle. It's part of a line called "Chub City" and was $ 10.97. Renny absolutely LOVES IT! This particular car doesn't have any small pieces for him to swallow and is hard for him to get a hold of. It was well worth the price, BUT it is so small that it doesn't run well on the carpet. It does work OK on the kitchen linoleum floor. It's fun to watch him chase it across a room and suddenly reverse it so it's chasing him. He does keep tipping it onto it's side so I have to go put it back onto it's wheels for him.

I'm going to try some other stores to find something a little bigger with more ground clearance that will run better on the carpet, but the R/C car idea is a definite winner.

Mahle, my 5 month Cairn's favorite toys are anything crinkly and fuzzy. Her newest craze is dryer sheets that fall out of the laundry as I'm folding it... she doesn't eat them but she LOVES shredding them, along with my boyfriend's bonus checks from work (that was quite a debacle!) but I agree with one of the above posts.... tennis balls! and yes, they do somehow magically appear under the couch, just out of reach when you stop playing with her... I just haven't quite figured out how ;)
