    January snow

    From the album: Lupineleigh's gallery

While waiting for Nikki to finish his night time business, I noticed how pretty the sidewalk looked with the snow, the full moon, and the Christmas lights shining, so I snapped a picture. The wind blew some snow into my face seconds after this was taken so I didn't stand around to take a better shot. Brrr!

13 inches of snow so far today! Nikki wasn't convinced that he had to go out a different way so I let him go out the front door. We don't get snow this deep very often so he wasn't quite sure what to make of it. (Our total snow fall for last year was eight inches, I think.)

    Making Snow Booties

I made snow booties for Packy this morning. This time I had some Velcro so it's easier to get them to stay on.

The "S" Word in the Forecast

They've got snow in our forecast here on the farm for tomorrow morning. Packy and Kirby are so excited, but I'm thinking it's a bit early! Sheesh, I didn't bring enough cold weather clothes on this trip to the farm. I've got to get the grass mowed this afternoon before it snows! On a different topic, Packy got his first ride in a combine yesterday. They came to do our soybeans and invited me up for a ride so Pack came along. I haven't been in a combine since I was a kid, so we had a great time. Packy had to bark at everything, of course, and check it all out to see how it works. He's p
  6. Well Fiona is almost a year old now and is becoming more of a character. We took her and Fearghus to a dog park in Fort Collins, CO on Sunday. It's only 45 minutes away from our new town of Cheyenne, WY. We're staying in our RV while we house hunt and needed to let the dogs have some free run time. There was no wind, the temps weren't too bad and the snow was fluffy. Can I say that the dogs were absolutely loving it! Steve and I had almost as much fun watching their antics ... it was a fantastic morning. Here's a couple links to videos of them playing: and a second one: http://www

It's That Time of Year Again

Snow started falling last night. Not much, only a couple of inches. But the temperature has dropped to 2 degrees (according to the weather channel "feels like -11")! Little Addie loves the snow, but her poor little feet start to hurt and she starts limping once it gets this cold. So I put on her new winter coat (http://www.rcpets.com/rcpets/index.php/browse/category/id/600#main_panel) and her trusty UltraPaw booties. She's been racing around in the yard full of joy as long as I'll allow her to. But I'm far more of a wimp than her. Full disclosure: unless it's really, really cold like it is n
