  1. Lupinegirl

    Marley’s hairdo

    From the album: Lupineleigh's gallery

Marley came running over here with a pitiful look on his face. It took us a moment to figure out what was different about him but once we saw it, we bust out laughing. Of course that made the sad puppy face even sadder. We relieved him of his troll updo.

    Beggars

    From the album: Lupineleigh's gallery

My landlord neighbor’s dogs come over for treats every day. They have a fourth Yorkie who is even smaller than the one pictured. They’re so cute. Marley is the biggest and possibly a Silky Terrier. Buttercup is the medium sized one, Rita is the tiny black one, and Nala (not pictured) is the same coloring as the other two and the smallest. Marley just turned ten we think. Happy birthday, Buddy!

  3. Lupinegirl

    Floofy Yorkie (Rita)

    From the album: Lupineleigh's gallery

This tiny girl is all fluff and attitude! Rita rules the roost, and shrieks whenever something isn’t going her way! Normally she’s a Daddy’s girl but she’s laid claim to my lap and gives me the cutest faces when I scratch her. She will not tolerate me doing anything else except scratching her with both hands, thank you. She nips my hands and squeezes between my tablet and me or my phone and me to make me scratch her. Lol And if I scratch another dog in her presence, she cuts between them and me to get all the attention. She’s demanding and feisty and loves chasing my hand under the blanket and growling ferociously but once she tuckers out, she’s content to lay wherever I put her and nap for a couple of hours. She’s super soft and silky and doesn’t mind being petted while she’s sleeping. She’s quite a princess!

    Reticent Buttercup (Yorkie rescue)

    From the album: Lupineleigh's gallery

This little girl is a frequent visitor to my house with her pals, but unlike Rita and Marley, she doesn’t care to spend hours napping in laps. She’s much more appreciative of a pillow off in a corner of the couch and she keeps a wary eye on the rest of the dog pack. Still, she’s learned that, whenever Rita the queen and Marley the king are not near her, she can get scratches and cuddles from Mom and me, and she’ll come over for pats when she sees us outside. It’s really sweet watching this wary older gal learn to trust and enjoy interacting with strangers.

Handsome Marley the rescued Silky Terrier mix

    From the album: Lupineleigh's gallery

Marley belongs to the person renting me my temporary house but he comes over every time he gets bored so he’s been spending a lot of time snuggling with me. He’s awakened me a few mornings barking at my door and he’s startled me after ten at night but I can’t help loving the snuggles. He’s been good company. I’m sure my Nikki is happy that I’m not so lonely and sad now with my unofficial “grandpup” coming to see me every few hours. Lol Marley’s taken over the couch and my bed and he likes to lean against me as close as he can get.

Smile for the camera! (And squish sister Rita!)

    From the album: Lupineleigh's gallery

Marley and Rita frequently compete for my lap when they visit. Marley was laying beside me but he sat up, looked at me, stretched his head back, sat up with his front feet in the air and flopped over on his side, right on top of Rita! Lol He sure gave me some cute faces while he was stretched out on my lap. Rita didn’t complain about being a pillow until he grew too heavy for her. She’s probably four pounds at the most while he’s probably closer to twelve pounds.

Wild thing (Kiki, recently rescued Yorkie)

    From the album: Lupineleigh's gallery

Kiki has a lot of health problems she’s overcoming and she has oversized canines that make her look like she has tusks, but she’s slowly starting to open up and show her spunky personality. She was rescued a few days before Christmas after spending a few months holed up in a house by herself while her owner was in hospice. The poor pup lost a lot of her hair and developed respiratory, eye, and ear infections and she has bumps all over her skin but she’s recovering quickly (aside from having breathing troubles still. Her teeth are in bad shape). She quivers a lot and keeps her distance from the other dogs most of the day but come 7 pm, she comes alive! She pops everything with her feet, growls, runs, and play bows, and throws her weight around, and the other dogs have no idea what to make of her! Lol She loves laying on her back for scratches.

    Yorkie pack (Buttercup, Marley, Kiki)

    From the album: Lupineleigh's gallery

On New Year’s Eve, my neighbors left their pack of five rescued dogs with me to keep them company during the long night of neighborhood fireworks. Buttercup is the least social of the group but she’s gradually warming up to me and visits me frequently to hoover up crumbs on the floor. The gremlin in the picture is the newest rescue, Kiki. She was rescued a couple of days before Christmas and had an ear infection, respiratory infection, eye infection, and she was losing her hair. She has oversized canines so she looks like she has tusks sticking out of her little mouth. All of these pups used to be shy with strangers but they enjoyed cuddling with me and Mom.

Yorkie Perch (Rita and Nala New Year’s Eve)

    From the album: Lupineleigh's gallery

I babysat my neighbor’s five rescues on New Year’s Eve to keep them company during the five long hours of neighborhood fireworks. These two tiny gems are Daddy’s Girls and normally are One Person dogs but they seem to have claimed me as an acceptable snuggle buddy. Nala is eleven years old. Rita is three years old.
