Scientists cross-breed to improve head shape in toy dogs predisposed to a painful disorder
New research shows it is possible to prevent Chiari malformation in toy dogs by cross breeding. Chiari malformation is found in toy dogs and affects 1 in 1,280 humans. Researchers say findings give insight into the inheritance of Chiari malformation and should be used in new breeding guidelines.
